And you can dial in that sag with the compressor in the loop, from what I have heard but never tried.

So now that I've been testing out those 542's and doing hardware inserts, I decided to plop my api 527a on the mixbus as well (had to be mono) I could dial in my UAD 2500 to be real similar-ish, but the 527a had a bit more bottom punchiness and weight. ... I think I may pick up one more 527a to run in stereo and then that'll leave one last space in my lunchbox for a 2nd mic pre and then I'll call that done.

That's about all I can do for hardware until I expand my I/O....won't be doing that for a good while.

Tracking bass through that 527a was really nice too. I'll think I'll make that standard in my workflow for now on top of the 542's.
