I've considered getting a cnc only to do fingerboards because I hate fret slotting SO much
You should, with proper speeds and feed rate, it's simple and quick. My last took me 15 minutes I think and it was done.

I'm a sucker for hidden fret tangs also. Sucks I'm pretty much out of space in my garage, not sure I want to deal with the dust and clutter in the house either. Sigh, the next house I guess.

That's what I do, I'll post a pic later of my recents.

I've been through the whole hand building phase which included planer/thicknesser, bandsaw, table saw. By no means do you need all that but I had it, and it took up all the space in my tiny shed. Got rid of all of it for a CNC, now I have more space too. Dust extractor in the corner.

There are plenty of guys who offer CNC cut boards these days as well if you're just doing builds sporadically.

Can't believe this damn thing popped up for sale lmao. I saw this get parted out like over a decade ago, the body ended up with an ugly T's Guitars neck and sold on Digimart.

Lined up to get it restored and a lore accurate body made. Been looking for an RG1618 forever, so I'll call it even with just finding a neck from one lol

Unfortunately nut is lower. Trying to find tall 3.5mm nuts is impossible so shim city here I come... Don't enjoy capo at the first fret.

Hell of a tough act to follow, but finally making some progress on this. Don't know if my head isn't in the game or what but making tons of mistakes on this build and it's turning into more about covering mistakes than making it right the first time. Obeche sucks balls and will dent if you even sneeze on it, and router bits make it splinter like a real bitch. Trying a proportional nut also but after making the ABM style headpiece it makes all the holes look off heh. This thing sucks.

One saying I like is, the skill of a luthier is not in what they can build but the mistakes they can hide!

Super cool shape!
