Well, at least mine doesn't look so obsessive like the spreadsheet guys! Lol

I was just curious and put all this down in Samsung note on my phone.

Warmoth VIP 7.80
Warmoth Strat 6.38
Yamaha revstar 502t 7.92
Warmoth Tele 7.94
Rg921 6.88
Rg520qs 8.90
Ltd ec401v (the thicker one) 8.94
Ibby As73 7.28
Carvin holdsworth 6.09

all measured on a kitchen digital scale 3x and averaged.

A few observations:
lace hemibuckers add over a 1/2lb to a guitar. The strat started out over 7, and dropped after the swap.

the 520qs is mahogany and any pickup sounds better in it than all my other guitars. That's why I still have it.

the carvin is semihollow and has a alder (yeah you heard that right) Neck. Alder necks decrease weight by about 3/4lb per carvin.

Sweet thread! Good reference. Thanks @Kosthrash for linking to this thread elsewhere. I like to look at the weight of a guitar purely for ergnomic reasons and out of pure curiosity.
Would be cool if we could just write the data in text form so that it is searchable, although I do get that it's pretty annoying to do that for 30+ guitars when you can just take a screenshot of your spreadsheet.

In any case, here are the ones I've measured, plus a few specs for models that may be custom which may change the weight:

- Ibanez RGA121 ------------------------- 3.341 kg / 7.37 lbs
- Ibanez PIA3761-SDG ---------------- 3.675 kg / 8.1 lbs
- Ibanez AZ2402-TFF ------------------ 3.273 kg / 7.22 lbs
- Ibanez GRG170DX -------------------- 3.457 kg / 7.62 lbs
This is a 2005 model
- Ibanez AF105F-NT ------------------- 2.808 kg / 6.19 lbs
- Edwards E-Scythe -------------------- 3.512 kg / 7.74 lbs
Includes the weight of an MM-04 boost and a BKP Holy Diver instead of the stock EMG.
- strandberg Boden Original 8 ---- 2.633 kg / 5.81 lbs
2021 model, immediately before the NX series came out.
- Carvin DC727 --------------------------- 3.614 kg / 7.97 lbs
2010 model. Swamp ash body wings, flamed koa top, koa neck with 2 maple layers, blank ebony board. No active preamp system.
- Oni Essi 8 -------‐-------------------------- 3.237 kg / 7.14 lbs
2023/24 build. Silky oak body, thin (~3mm) figured red gum top, Queensland maple neck, richlite fretboard. 10-way Freeway switch with tone and volume pots for electronics.
- Yamaha TRBX305 -------‐-------------- 4.274 kg / 9.42 lbs

My Aria Pro YS400 is ~9.5 lbs. It feels pretty heavy on a strap but I have a nice 3" couch strap that makes it sit a lot more comfortably. Heavy Gear=Heavy Toan

Got me a JP12-7. Measured it today. It's a fatty! My heaviest guitar so far (not counting my 5 string bass)

EBMM JP12-7 ---- 3.935 kg / 8.68 lbs

Bone stock guitar. Measured with the whammy bar on.

My Tele when I ordered it from Sweetwater was I believe 6lbs ...12oz? Maybe 14? Just shy of being 7lbs, I remember that being a big deal; not that particular number, just how light they all were in general. It MIGHT be 7 even at worst, but I recall thinking, "if I can get one under, why not?"

My Blackjack ATX is probably 8lbs or so, not likely more, it's heavier than my EC was and that felt a hair heavier than my Tele.

Basses? My parts bass is probably 9, heavier than the ATX but not by much; just a dense body but the neck is fine. EHB is probably 7.5-8lbs as well, still some chunk to it, but light enough for a bass that no guitarist would balk at it.

Alder and basswood must be the lightest woods? What do you think?
Not necessarily. Maybe on average they're light, but I think outliers aren't uncommon. My JP12-7 I posted above is basswood (granted it does have a mahogany neck and tone block in the body, but it is my heaviest guitar, and not by a small margin).

Then again, my alder AZ2402 is one of my lightest.

Between 7 and 8.3 pounds. I'm not trying to be contentious, but is anything less than 10lbs really an issue? Grab some 60lb dumbbells and do some shrugs and farmer walks. Some bass players are dealing with 11+lbs. If your posture is right, and you have your strap set to your preference, is even 9lbs an issue? I've only had issues when I first started playing and I had the posture of a jumbo shrimp. This is coming from a guy that had a microdiscectomy. Plus, I train by bringing in 20 grocery bags at once. Is there really any other reason to work out, other than expediting the transference of groceries and lifting heavy objects for your wife? 😀

Nearly all my electric guitars are between 7-7.7 lbs. The only one that weighs more than 7.7 lbs. is my Schecter KM-7 MKII which is roughly 8.3 lbs.

I definitely prefer guitars under 8 lbs. if possible.
