Obviously gotta be the Meshuggah boys. They completely fucked my mind up. Despite all the 'djent' bands to have come out, few of them grab me like those guys do.

Chimp Spanner (Paul Ortiz) is abit of a hero for me not just because of his music, but the fact he does it all himself and to such a high standard. Seen him live a couple times now and he's brilliant. Deserves all the success he gets. :yesway:

Mastodon, because they sound so raw and yet beautiful. Brent Hinds in particular is a brilliant guitarist and I love how he uses his hybrid picking to do insane solos.

John Browne of Monuments/Fellsilent for the fact he writes such insane technical shit without being too spazzy. He grooves like a madman.

Shaun Morgan of Seether because he is a brilliant frontman and writes songs that are heavy and melodic. There are barely any Seether songs I don't like, though I'm still to get the new album.

My biggest non-metal influence is John Butler. He got me into using 12 string guitars and open C tuning. He is a brilliant guitarist, vocalist and live he is incredible. Really cool guy.

I could go on and on. A few other main ones are Dino Cazares (Fear Factory, Divine Heresy, Asesino) , Adam Jones (Tool), Devin Townsend, Mark Morton and Willie Adler (Lamb of God), Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Nociceptor), Wes Borland, Drop (Sybreed), Greg Tribbet (Mudvayne, Hellyeah).

Mike Holmes from IQ has a style that really appeals to me, kind of wavey :wavey:
Also growing up I would have to acknowledge Satch and Vai as big influences. Most recently I have been digging Tosin's playing for 7 and 8 string stuff.

Along with the usual suspects of Vai, Satch, Lane etc, I'm having a resurgence of love for any metal guitarist who can bring real aggression and anger to his playing, so that rules a lot of metal guitarists out to start with. My favourites at the minute...

Pat O'brien
Rob Barrett
Erik Rutan
Trey Azagthoth (apart from that shit album he just made)
Karl Sanders
Jeff Hanneman
Kerry King
Brent Hinds
Brian Eschbach
John Kempainen
Ryan Knight

etc
