Machine Head's Imperium meant a lot to me - they had really dropped the ball, and hearing that track put such a smile on my face, they were back.

Probably a dark horse. But Up Into The Either from I Built the Sky's album The Zenith Rise. A lot of that is because this just happens to be my favorite song on the planet and has been since release.
Others would be Down from 311's self titled album. Cowboys from hell. Enter Sandman. Your Betrayal.

My top 3 are "San Lorenzo" and "Have You Heard" by the Pat Metheny Group (if you want to work on your chromatic soloing listen to that solo starting at 1:52 in have you heard... holy smokes..) and "Lightning & Snow" by Woods Of Ypres. Weird combo, yeah.

Idk why that whole album doesn't get more love. I actually like it a lot more than even The Blackening and stuff after that since they still retained some of that classic MH groove feel without going too deep into thrash.

Metallica - Battery. I had never heard that song before (or many songs at all from the band other than Master and Harvester of Sorrow).

Put the vinyl on my brand new (and first) stereo and heard clean guitars.....hmmm, not what I expected. But then sat in awe as the album unfolded. I can't think of any album discovery experience I've had since that compares. Every Track = WIN!!! And good vinyl sounds so alive. :wavey:

Others are Slayer Hell Awaits (the long intro is LEGENDARY) and South of Heaven. The lean, razor sharp crunch they had in the '80s is still my preferred rhythm tone and sets the standard.
