I got my septum stretched today...two sizes. I went from a 10 to a 6g. I'm considering getting my eyebrow double pierced as well. I thought about it a while as the initial thought of getting such things done at this stage in life (I'm 38) was regressive. This got me to thinking. Why, as a society, have we decided that certain things done for oneself can't be done at a certain age? We expect kids to get tattoos, piercings, dress in non traditional ways but as adults we're expected to shed all of that..I'd argue that as you get older, THAT'S when you should do all those things. You're an adult of sound mind (in theory), you work, you pay bills, you contribute to society..you have earned the right to look however you want. It's your body and you have every right to like what you see when you look in the mirror. You've more than earned the right to express yourself how you please as you've managed all the responsibilities of someone your age.

People deserve to be happy with themselves. Your happiness is not under condition of the approval from others. On your death bed you should be able to look back on your life, reflect, and be happy that you did the things you wanted to do and pursued happiness on your own terms. It's a miserable life playing by the rules of people who don't know you and don't care.

This is why I find it kind of funny, but am also not bothered by the fact that I'll get my first tattoo later this year (hopefully) at 32.

Read a little philosophy this morning, which set me up for a moody day.

There's some weird ethereal idea wafting about my noggin' now about how maybe enslavement is the natural state of our species. We seem to do it to ourselves every time we have some form of freedom. Whether it's capitalism and our worship of the almighty dollar driving millions to self-financial-implosion through credit, or religious dogma we use as a way to keep ourselves indebted to some nebulous "big power(s)" to the point where making a mistake is considered a debt against our very soul that can only be repaid by the big lug on his golden throne, or whatever, we seem to crave being enslaved, being under the power of others, being trapped in prisons of our own making.

I need a weekend and a big pile of weed gummies to sort this shit out.

Why isn't this more widespread?
Because they're big, because you still need to turn it into electricity, because solar panels are more versatile, because people don't like to cooperate and the sun is only out for half the day, because convincing anyone of anything regarding energy is an uphill battle, etc - and these are just my guesses.

Chest freezers- I think unless its just a single person managing its contents and making sure everything is getting rotated on time, stuff gets forgotten and falls deeper into the hole and is eventually there too long.
My solution- upright freezer where everything is easier to reach and more/mostly visible. Will report back in a year.

Teenagers and younger adults are still under going physical and mental development. Changes in the brain and overabundance of hormones are seen as an excuse, by Conservative views of society, to make "bad" decisions, go wild, take it out of your system so you can become a faceless conformed member of society that begrudgingly accepts whatever society expects of them. Getting a job, having an income and spend spend spend to keep this monstrosity of modern life turning around.

I'm 45, have no tattoo's and I'm considering getting some now :)

Sounds like the kind of despair the ruling class wants you to feel.

Only relative to the planet. It's like how if time travel was real, you'd probably just end up depositing yourself into space.

Actually, maybe time travel IS real, but everyone who succeeded just dumped themselves into the void, so we have no proof.

Time travel is real. We're all doing it in the same direction!
