Cool. Hopefully soon.

I have been messing with my rack 5 band parametric, and a pedal 3 band parametric, and it reminded me of this pedal.

I swear I think my ear is disgusted by 450hz, lol. It seems like cutting about 4db at 400hz - 500hz makes any amp sound better. A wide bandwidth helps it sound more natural than a graphic.

I did notice the center frequency values of this Ibanez EQ are pretty close to the Mesa mark series graphic EQs, so that is cool.

I don't think language exists to convey how strongly I agree with you here.

There's always somewhere in my chain that I'm cutting 400-500hz. I tend to start at 430hz since I believe that's what the Herbert midcut is set at, but move it around depending on speakers/IR.

Yeah, I have cut 500hz for years, generally with a MXR EQ pedal, or in my Fractal stuff. However, I have been trying to 'embrace the differences' by not dialing everything to sound the same, especially with my Synergy system.

I was messing around with my Uberschall module, and using my rack parametric, I used 2 bands, one about 380hz, and another at 630hz or so. Both about -4db. I find this combo sounded WAY better than without, and more natural than the graphic with the 500hz down. Then I tried the same thing in my FM3, I turned off the amp output graphic EQ, and used a parametric block instead. Same result. I think I am just going to have to accept that this is the way, lol.

Speaking of Herbert, I have considered getting the Herbert Synergy module, specially because of that mid cut knob.

It is funny, because I find cutting this range after the amp, that I can actually turn the mids up higher on my amp. I get more of the aggressive crunch mids, and less of the boxy shit mids.
I thought I was fairly alone in this, wow! Glad to see that there are others who don’t like “those” mids.

Are we talking early 80s popular recording midrange mids here correct?

Anyone got theirs yet? Guitarguitar in UK just told me that it's due sometime August. Must have been delays?

My Long and McQuade rep told me on the 18th that they are scheduled to ship at the end of the month from their supplier in the US. But then they gotta cross the border to Canada, which may take a couple more weeks. So mid-May delivery is what I am expecting here.

I talked to my Sweetwater rep a few weeks ago and he said mine is on the next delivery, but I expected it to already be here by now, so no idea. TBH, I've thought about cancelling it because I bought a MXR 10-band for $40 and an HX Stomp that has all the EQs I could ever want... But I'm still holding out for now.

Will be trying it out later today, once I am done work. It is a little smaller than I expected, which is a good thing for me. Feels really solid for now. All pots and sliders feel nice and weighty. LEDs are quite bright, but not as bright as the MXR 10-band. For the time being I'm just gonna use it to sculpt the guitar's tone.

Dang, I'm surprised you managed to get it in Canada before I did. Sweetwater sure is taking their damn time on this thing 😭 They didn't even send me candy with my last shipment - what's up with this!?

I made mention of it to my Sweetwater rep, "I guess you guys stopped the candy thing." "What, no we didnt?" "OH, weird the last order didn't have any. I figured Mitch was trying to help make guitarists healthier or something." I ended up getting a Sweetwater jar full of candy. I don't really eat much of it (maybe a Tootsie roll or two every so often), but my girlfriend enjoyed snacking on it. She'd have a piece or two every few days. She always looks forward to it now because they usually put in old school candy.

Well, you could flag down a plane with an MXR EQ......

That does look smaller than I thought it would be. Maybe the size of a Rat pedal?

So... it's an EQ alright
I realized I don't actually know what exactly to look for in an EQ pedal lol seems pretty straightforward to me. It feels very well built, it's intuitive, and it does what it is advertised to do. My favorite thing is the Q control so I can dial in/out very specific frequencies or broad bands of them. Keeping it at the front of signal chain is like having an adjustable pickup that allows me to control pretty specific frequencies. Haven't looked at the frequency response curves in my DAW's EQ yet to see how the Q control behaves. May get to it later.

Also, you CAN use it as a pure boost. The Level knob is fully transparent when in the noon position. All the way counterclockwise produces no output and clockwise past noon raises the output.

I just wish the pots had at least one detent at the noon position, but that's just nitpicky. The sliders do have a detent at the 0 dB position though, which is nice.

Yeah I'm pretty surprised at how fast I got it. Hopefully Sweetwater gets their shit together and you'll get yours soon.

I bought an MXR 10-band in the interim for a stupid price so I don't really NEED this EQ, but everyone talks about how great parametrics are, and the price of all the other ones are silly. Still not sure if I'll keep both, but I figured having one in front and one in the loop could be interesting. Still not sure which will go where, though. I haven't used an EQ on my board since I was a pretty new player and had no idea what to do with it. I'm sure I just did a V and scooped the mids and chugged.
