    I'm currently going to a small club with a very "focused" Bulgarian coach. He's a sound dude but obviously the language barrier makes it difficult for him to explain stuff, so I learn most of what I know from actually fighting people. Problem is I can identify people's weak spots (folds of the jacket poking out, forearm not entirely hidden by guard etc.) but I can't actually hit them when I go for them, even if they don't react at all and stand there like Hodor. :D

    Dude hit me up on skype sometime, I need some tips on how not to suck at épée :D current tactic is to use leg strength (15 years ballet dancer, and wot m8) because I can lunge further and move faster than everyone else, but my tip accuracy is shocking :(

    It ruffles my feathers because the system is abused.
    Sometimes it's used too much as a bro pat on the back between friends *hint hint* ;) but that's not a biggie.
    The problem is that I've seen it used here in a really bad way, to convey anonimously insults and little threats, which I really don't like, and I don't mean only on my profile.
    Seeing stuff like "now one likes you, go away" on some profiles is sick and unfair imho.
    Not to mention insults of any kind just because you like a Floyd or not for example.
    If people believes in their ideas they can talk like you and I are doing instead of sending insults :)

    With the damned size of the épée guard it's absolutely humiliating when people like you start doing your "I'll tap you on the wrist" shit. I detest your ilk. ;)

    I'm only saying that because I can't even lunge in a straight line, let alone any fancy stuff. I'm lucky if my point skims my opponent's mask after a fluke swing-infested flurry of attacks. :D

    Absolutely. Can't count the amount of times I have been humiliatingly scuppered by executing a complex attack on someone who is simply pointing the blade at me. I'm like the AI in Rome Total War, I just walk straight onto swords.

    Curse you taller fencers. There's a 6'2 guy at my club who scares the living daylights out of me. I have to go all Oberyn Martell on him and aim for the legs and forearm, otherwise he tears me to bits with a blunted sword, haha. Congrats on the referee certification!

    Honestly have no idea re the ratings bit, I just swing the sword about and try to hit stuff. I fence exclusively epée at the moment and it's a lot of fun, but very hard. Pistol grip, though may switch to french grip as I get a lot of hand pain which isn't good for a career musician lmao

    I chose it in part because the internet is just entirely too negative sometimes, especially on a forum populated by antisocial metalheads, and in part because I myself am far too negative for my own good sometimes and need that little reminder.

    I never got the feeling people were reacting like Explorer was saying they were in that thread, either, but it's pretty clear that bringing that up with him would be pointless and earn me nothing but condescension :lol:.
