Thanks again, everybody! I went with the Suhr DSH+ and it's a lot better. So much of a difference I'm wondering if there was something wrong with the stock one. :/
Okay, good. Thanks! I think Suhr used to supply pickups for Strandberg. I'll definitely check those out. I've heard of Fralin - I'll check those out, too. :)
Not jibing with the OEM strandberg humbucker on my Standard NX 6 Trem. The 2 lower strings sound thin, and a little out of phase, to me. The mids and highs are nice and clear but the bass response is not to my liking. I'm not shredding leads, more of a fusion/jazz/ambient/clean to light...
The tuners were changed for cosmetic reasons - I didn't care for the Gold look. I put black Gotohs on - better tuners, too. The bridge and nut were swapped plastic for Tusq - both were done by local luthier. Not sure about the bridge height question - doesn't seem like a minute height change...
I can vouch for the Ibanez - very good quality at that price range, It's been my go to 7 string acoustic for several years now. The only upgrades have been tuners and bridge.
The Emeralds look nice, too - whatever you get ... enjoy! :)
Ha! I gotta say I was reluctant to start watching it, but the wife suggested we give it a try ... but when the last show of the last season was over I was truly sad. IMO possibly one of the all time best [modern era] shows. Of course YMMV. ;)
Hey there!
Rich has a couple here: http://www.ibanezrules.com/parts.htm - look in the Trem Arm section about a 1/3 of the page down - for $55
You can occasionally find them on Ebay - but they are pricey there, not as cheap as Rich.
Hope that helps!

Nice! Looks a lot like my studio used to - I had MCI boards/machines and tons of outboard. Now it looks like a monitor and keyboard for the most part. :)
Okay - update for anyone that may come searching for similar data. The Schertlers are indeed direct drop ins. The supplied screws were a bit smaller - I used white glue and toothpick tips to create more bite for the threads. Worked very well for me.
I am using the Tun -BK-ES-E models found...
Hey all!
Quick question ...
Okay so I want to replace the stock open back tuners (Wilkinson) on my Agile Renaissance 8 string with some Shertlers (http://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Tuning_Machines/Classical_Guitar_Tuning_Machines/Schertler_Classical_Guitar_Tuning_Keys.html). Before I...
