Thanks for the help. I think that will be the plan. Blackouts and if I am not happy, then passives. I have wired quite a few guitars in the past, but I am hesitant with this one. I think it is the initial cost of the guitar. I have never attempted to change a baseplate before and I also...
I appreciate all the input. What I am referring to with routing is for the mounting tabs/ears - the pickups are direct mounted - no pickup rings. What I am looking for is more output & thicker sound. Similar to the X2N 7 in EQ properties for the bridge. I did have blackout 7's previously in...
I am used to passive pickups. The DiMarzio D Activator in the neck and DiMarzio D Activator-X and X2N-7 in the bridge are my preferred pickups. I recently got an ESP EII Horizon FR-7. I am not in love with the EMG 66-7H & 58-7H. They are not bad, but they are not me. I am looking to stay...
Nope. My first guitar was an Epiphone strat copy with a locking tremolo. I changed the pickups to some Seymour Duncans at some point, but the bridge died after 13 years and I was not able to replace it. It was heavy as hell and I miss it even though I now own better guitars. When I built my...
I have a Dimebucker in one of my guitars. I use a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck. They work well together in my opinion. This is only guitar that I turn the tone knob down for (Dime is too bright). I definitely prefer my D Activator/D Activator-X combo better for my six strings. It's all a...
I have a crunch lab 7 with the bar facing the bridge in my ESP LTD M207 (basswood 7). I love it. From DiMarzio: The character of the sound can be altered by reversing the installation direction. This can be particularly important because of the effect it will have on the low B string. With the...
Are you aware that ESP owns Schecter? They may be operating separately, but they are starting to have more & more similarities. They both are good guitars and it just comes down to personal preference.
I bought a Douglas SR370 for a backup seven and it is a good guitar. Yes, it will need a setup, but most guitars shipped half way around the country do. The pickups are okay, but like most cheaper guitars, I would change them. I think you can handle the floyd - it is not like your ten and...
D'Addario XL's - EXL110-7 for the sevens, EXL120 for sixes, and EXL110W (wound 3rd) for my custom 6. Coated for the acoustics - EXP17 & EXP38 for the twelve. D'Addarios are the only strings that have held up to my playing style - all others I tried failed me in the past & I stick with what works.
I was wonder if anyone has used both the DiMarzio Crunch Lab 7 and D Sonic 7 pickups? I am debating between the two for a guitar with a hard ash body. I have a basswood guitar with the crunch lab and love it, but I don't know if it with sound good in an ash body. Any input would help. Thanks.
It is easier than you think. I've replaced pickups in 7 guitars. Pay attention to the wiring as you remove the old pickups and use a diagram for the pickups you are putting in. I know that the wire colors for DiMarzio are different than Seymour Duncan. If you aren't doing any fancy wiring it...
My Douglas sounds brighter than my ESP/LTD M207 (at least to me). That is why I'm thinking it is all hard ash. The ESP is basswood. I have DiMarzio Liquifire/Crunch Lab pickups in the ESP and I love the sound. I was thinking of going with Liquifire/D Sonic pickups in the Douglas SR370. Here...
I bought a Douglas SR370 in natural finish as a backup 7. The Rondo Music site listed it a having a mahogany body with an ash top. The one I received looks like it has a solid ash body. Has anyone else had experiences with these guitars? I'm looking at putting in DiMarzio's, but I want know...
I own a JS30DK and I hated it at first. I put in a Seymour Duncan Jazz at the neck and a Dimebucker at the bridge. I also got a setup done to fix the fret buzz problems and man there was problems. This guitar now rocks.
I have Dimarzio Liquifire and Crunch Lab pickups in my ESP/LTD M207, which has a basswood body. I love the sound of this guitar. I'm looking at getting another seven for a back up that has a mahogany body with an ash top. Do you think I should use the same pickups or would you recommend...
This kid is a product of hardcore Christian parents who beat his ass into submission. He probably can't think beyond what mommy & daddy tell him. He's not even experienced enough to generate his own real opinions - he is just a dumb kid regurgitating his parent's thoughts.
