Well, Drop A# is up a half step everywhere but that seventh string. Personally I'd go with a 9-52 set with a 58 or 60 on the bottom. You might like the bottom a little lighter, 58 is a good place to start. For reference I think I have a 64 or 65 on my JL7 (26.5") in Ab standard and that feels...
Damn. The guys over there really know how to pull off just about any finish, don't they? Lol. This is the only sparkle finish I've seen from them so far and it's awesome. I can only imagine that the pics can't do it justice.
These pickups continually surprise the hell out of me. I don't like EMG's... pretty much exclusively use passive pickups and have gone out of my way to get rid of EMGs in all of my other guitars, but I absolutely LOVE the 66/57s in the Loomis.
welcome! and congrats! Skervy's are amazing.. Seeing all of the good work they're putting out is making it really difficult not to order another one!
What were the original pickups in it? What'd you change them to?
I have SS frets on a few guitars, and the only string I ever break any more is my high E (well... C#/Db in my case lol) but Grindspine has it exactly -- ss frets are really hard on your strings *if* you use a lot of pressure when playing. I can tell when I've gone a bit overboard because I can...
So you decided to pick up a second one! Lol. I agree with some of the other posters here, the red is awespme, but that black is surprisingly sexy. When I ordered mine it was supposed to be red, but black is what I ended up with and I liked it so much that I decided to keep it lol
Don't be afraid to bug them a little bit. They are slammed! When I've reached out to them (during and after my build) i usually heard back within a couple days, sometimes within hours.
You definitely shouldn't have any doubts about your decision, they are awesome, and do amazing work. My Medusa...
The trem route seems perfectly fine on mine...
trem is also mounted straight and there are no other issues. It just looks awesome, plays awesome, and feels awesome. :) As TheShriddinHand confirmed, these are absolutely SS frets.
and I'm still loving the EMG's... not something I thought I'd...
There's plenty around. :) the new KM-7 and JL-7 both have the new SLS ("Super thin C") shape, and I find it really, really comfortable. If you didn't like the thicker Schecter necks of the past, definitely give one of these a shot, I think they're awesome.
Its perfectly stable.. It's a 5 piece neck, it sounds great and comfort means less tension and faster playing. If that's not your thing, fine, but this blanket statement that thin necks sound bad and are unstable just isn't true.
I've got one, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite guitars. The new EMG's sound AWESOME, the neck is super comfortable, and the neck is finished, but its a satin finish and feels great.
Check out my NGD...
I agree. I honestly don't like EMG's, they're the first thing to get changed in my guitars, but I frickin' love the 57-7/66-7s in the Loomis sig. They're by far the best pickups EMG has put out to date, imo. Tight, punchy, but no fizzy high end, and the feel and pick response are much closer to...
