Shame to see that this company has come to an end. They had some great instruments.

I might have to snag myself one of those JDA sigs at one point.

Sad news. I'm not sure exactly what there is to be sad about though -- can't really think of a single Fernandes instrument worth owning.

Which is probably why they're out of business.

But for a long time they were a staple of keen-eye bargain hunting at used shops and such.

I don't think they ever made the best guitars, but for a long time they made the best guitars for $200 that some lazy shop owner was too stupid to Google before letting go.

Yea, I had one of those Fernandes Aldrich sigs, and it looked pretty awesome, but I didn't like it much as a guitar. If it was still $200, sure, but the paint made it more like $1500.

Gillis had a few nicely built custom Fernandez guitars. One was a doubleneck Flying V with Bartonlini's on the 12 string and one of the original Floyds (pre fine tuners) on the 6. It was for the Ozzy tour and auctioned off after he left the band. A friend ended up with it. It was stolen years ago. A picture popped up on the internet from some dude in Europe maybe 20 years ago, but the lead went dark.

I owned a couple, they were GOOD guitars, but reminded me of when Jackson DK series went from Japan to Korea and had big chunky necks for a few years.
Never LOVED them, but the sustainer was really cool on a $300 guitar.

Yeah, this does raise the questions of what happens with Burny and the Sustainer? I suspect they'll be sold off. Given that a prominent endorser (Collen) has a production guitar that comes with a Sustainer, FMIC seems a logical buyer.

I always thought the Fernandes line were a good "step-up" guitar with a penchant for the odd, but they became just another company making stuff in Korea and then Indonesia/China.

Yeah what does this mean for the Fernandez sustainer?

Fernandes and Sustainiac are different companies with competing systems.

If I were Sustainiac right now I'd be celebrating.

Agreed, it seems like this has been written on the wall for some time now. Nevertheless, sad to see them go.
There were some truly GAS-worthy Revolver models, and the Ravelle was an interesting take on ‘not-a-LP’, though not really to my tastes. I’ll always want to try one of the Kitamura sigs, painted neck and licensed FR aside.
