Obsession with hardcore has long passed me by 15-20 years ago, but still dip into the well some. Loved melodic hardcore and the bands influenced by 80s youth crew. Straightedge for life--or in hindsight, only until I turned 22.

This thread needs more Bane praise! I had a stagedive competition at a Bane concert with a friend. I hit at least 12 in the set. Those shows were nuts, and very illegal from a fire code perspective packing in. Pre-Great White days.

I always loved Count Me Out, from Richmond. I'm at this show in the audience somewhere.

Also loved Champion from Seattle; saw them in a basement in Syracuse with less than 20 people. Stay Gold opened, who was also really good:

Actually, loved most stuff that hit Bridge9 records at that time. This genre needed more 7 string and solos, but I guess the accessibility due to simplicity is what created the charm.

Trapped Under Ice, Turnstile to name a couple.

On the edge of hardcore and metal, the ever popular Hatebreed.

I was a teenager in the DC area in the 80’s, so most of my olde tyme favorites are bands that I was going to see back then: Minor Threat, Government Issue, Faith, Void, etc. Around 1985, I was fortunate enough to meet and become friends with the guys in Corrosion of Conformity. I was also getting into the whole metal/punk crossover at that time, thanks to the first albums by Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.

Modern day, my favorite metalcore band is Unearth, although I dig a bunch of those Massachusetts bands. I like As I Lay Dying as well.

Being a Boston boy, Slapshot, SSDecontrol (SSD). Filled in on bass a number of times for Slapshot. One time at L’Amor in Brooklyn, opening for Biohazard. That, my friends, was a sick show.

Hitting my "teen angst" years in the early '80s, it was G.B.H., Cro Mags, Victims Family (100% AMAZING band), Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law, D.R.I. (Dealing With It + Dirty Rotten L.P.), Dead Kennedys, 1st Suicidal Tendencies album, Damage (NYC), Ludichrist, Crumbsuckers, Flipper, T.S.O.L., Gang Green, Discharge, Broken Bones, U.K. Subs, Fear, Germs, Adrenalin O.D., Flag Of Democracy, Life Sentence, Bad Brains, Government Issue (early stuff), early Lemonheads stuff, Mannequin Beach, The Stupids, Void, Minor Threat (even though I wasn't into the whole straight edge thing, (nothing like going to a straight edge show with an "X" Sharpied on your hand after pounding some Captain Morgan) still great band), etc....Then after I grew up a bit I started listening to some cool noise rock bands such as Cows, God Bullies, Swans, Big Black, Rapeman, King Snake Roost, and a shitload of bands on noise rock label "Amphetamine Reptile Records". Now I listen to Pink....& Carcass....LOL :pickle:

Most violent show I ever saw was Agnostic Front @ The Electric Banana in Pittsburgh. Right after they released "Liberty And Justice". This rinky-dink club could hold maybe 100, and was packed with the usual punks, but a SHITLOAD of S.H.A.R.P. skins. The nazi boneheads showed up and were politely escorted out by way of fists. Funny as fuck, some bonehead with his suspenders down (ready to fight) dived off the stage and was carried out the door (still in stage diving mode), then dealt with in pretty harsh terms outside. That fucking show was so loud I felt my lungs compress. I miss those days.......I really wish my wife would quit listening to Adele...

Bane is probably my favorite modern hardcore band, next to Have Heart and Trapped Under Ice.

I don't listen to a lot of Hardcore, but I do listen to a lot of adjacent bands, Abominable Iron Sloth probably being one of the closest. To this day still some of the most raw and aggressive music I've experienced, and a top 10 favorite for life. Both of their albums are full of bangers back to front:

I also listen to a lot of Mogwai:
