So how does that work? Can you only change between the two pickups meaning not being able to have both on simultaneously let alone doing a coil split?

Down = bridge

Stupid simple and easy. No coil splits or anything. The Charvel Henrik Danhage does the same thing. Worth nothing though that George Lynch uses a push-push pot, not a push-pull.

I've always wanted to try to use push-push pots instead of push-pull when needed. I just worry that push-push knobs seem a little less reliable?

Same. I have a baritone HS Strat I'm working on and I want to do a push-push so bad since it's wayyyy easier/more natural than a push-pull but the failure rate of push-push seems to be (anecdotally) higher

Purely anecdotal, but my experience has been exactly that. I don't know if I got a bad pot or something, but I had a push-push installed on my OG JP7 for coil splitting in all positions, and it'll only push back into the down position if it's turned to a very specific spot just above zero. Might swap it to a push-pull eventually.

I have a push push knob on my Claas for pu switching works fine from a technical point of view, never had any reliability issues with it.

The problem I have with it is that if you want to switch fast between the PU's I somethis also change the volume... For me a switch works way better if you want to switch fast

Bourns make a push-push which they call a latching-push pot. It's not cheap, but Bourns stuff is always good IME. I have one and it works great although I've not had it long enough to speak to its lifespan.

Forgive my ignorance - this is the first time I've ever heard this band - but is this good? Seems kinda not good to me but we're on page 8 of a thread about this guy

His solo work is really good. Freak Kitchen is much more conventional rock/metal. But yeah, his lyrics are always pretty cringe unfortunately.

I went into this post without expectations but in hindsight "dream theater but somehow even less accessible" is probably what I should have expected on SSO

I actually like a lot of freak Kitchen, songs like
-Freak of the Week
-Porno Daddy
-Nobody's Laughing
-Jerk
-Rights to You

are all pretty good.

I gotta say, I've always hated his tone though, it sounds too cold or like quasi-wah is on all times or something...I'm not good with descriptions but I'm sure some know what I'm talking about.

I respect Mattias's knowledge of music, rhythms, and dude knows more than I'll ever forget about theory, but damn if he doesn't make the most nonsensical choices when it comes to actually writing songs with it; I can only think of one song, start to finish, that I enjoy.

My first time too. A lot of musical talent for sure, but with weird and nonsensical lyrics

It's kinda like a metal version of Primus...

I remember hearing this song at 15, when I had more of a 'simple' taste in music. I couldn't process what was happening there. Still one of my favorites:

Also this one:

I'm taking the push-push pot out of the guitar that its in as you end up with the knob being quite high off the body to ensure the room to depress it.

Definitely a side effect I didn't think of ahead of time. Looks and feels a bit goofy

The last couple Mad Hatter solderless kits I got, I had him replace the push-pulls for push-push for coil-splits. I whack those fuckin’ things pretty hard and haven’t had an issues in the 2 years they’ve been installed.

If I were to design a guitar from ground up, I’d most likely use a push-push ala Lynch to switch pickups. Most of my switching is done during a solo in microseconds, it’d be a lot easier to just whack a knob and be done with it.
