Well, for Politics and Dreaming it's 81s for both guys according to Kernon. Dead Heart is actually mostly the 707, with some JB, according to Sneap. He also had that weird-ass proto 7 from the small company I can't remember the name of, that had such early Duncans in it that they actually sawed four bobbins up per pickup and glued the together, then soldered two cut-up baseplates together. I wish I could find pics of it...

Yeah, I always thought those albums with 81s with a Triaxis, or Mark IV.

Live during the Dead Heart tour he used LTD guitars with EMG 707 installed, when I saw the band live during This Godless Endeavour tour he still used the Schecter Hellraiser with EMG 707, the 81-7 was released in 2008 aprox. (If memory serves me well)

As much as I dislike Keith Merrow's persona, I really enjoy his riffing. I've listened to that album like a million times.

So I put this set into my latest RG7620.
I like em , nothing about them makes me go crazy, but hey are tight for rifiing and they don't feel stiff while playing lead. through the Mark IV.
I have a pegasus/Liquifire combo in my RG752 (which is as close to a 7620 as I think you can get).
the Loomis pickups have a little more character to them (I think) I like the Pegasus 7 and Liquifire 7 together , positions 2/4 are pretty cool
but they are not a long way off tonally, they are tight though so technical riffage ( as much as I can do) does sound very clear.
Price is better than BKS at the moment so I figured I'd give em a try.............. so far so good

Will it matter what pickups I use with high gain apart from how high I have the level on the tubescreamer before the amp?

At least they are cheaper than BKP, and people don't have to fuck too much adding a stereo jack and battery plug to their wiring for a passive guitar I guess.

I'm replacing the Loomis Blackouts with these in my Loomis SL7.

I've had weird issues with those and the EMG 57/66-7 sets with regard to EMI in our apartment. Wi-Fi and cell phone signals cause lots of noise for both. Much worse than actives without exposed poles (which are as quiet as you'd expect), but worse than any passive model as well.
