How is this acceptable? 3/4 of the screen is ads. The post titles (which are the only thing that really matters when browsing) are crammed into a tiny column making them borderline unreadable if they're any longer than a few words.

I'm all for supporting the site through ad revenue (which is why i disable adblock here), but the way they're laid out here makes the site a real pain to read on anything smaller than fullscreen desktop window.

I'm not a big fan of how the "watched threads" page shows all kinds of stuff that hasn't had new posts in a long time. The user CP before used to only show threads with new content, but the watched threads page (I assume this is the equivalent now) just keeps going. It's harder to tell at a glance if there's really something new.

But more importantly - ads that autoplay with sound. I don't normally use adblock for a number of reasons, but that's enough for me to start using it.

No iTrader.
Notification emails should contain the contents of the new post that way I know if something actually requires my attention.

Update:

- Sticky Threads are not separated
- Multi-quote is now enabled
- User location now appears under their username
- Marketplace access is fixed. Same rules apply for posting in the Marketplace (100+ posts, 6 months membership, etc), except for Musicians Classifieds and Ebay Deals.
- Album pictures were not possible to convert to the new forum software, sorry. However, the album pictures that were embedded in posts are still there. More info here: http://www.sevenstring.org/threads/album-pictures-after-site-upgrade.322621/

Wow, no ads on the side anymore. Awesome!
+ 100. So much better.
I hadn't even noticed they were missing, but I mean that in a good way. It's one of those "it's only a problem when you DO notice it" kind of things. :yesway:

I cant find any section for creating albums on my profile page anymore. This was one of the greatest benefits of being a contributor for me. Will that be still available with the new updates ?

my texas roll call thread is gone...ii think?

did a search here and on google

link was ---> http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/off-topic/244769-texas-sso-members-check.html

I tried removing the "forum/off-topic/" part and replaced it with "threads/" and then I changed the "244769-texas-sso-members-check.html" part to "texas-sso-members-check.244769" so that the link became "http://sevenstring.org/threads/texas-sso-members-check.244769" and it automatically redirected me to this URL: http://sevenstring.org/threads/texas-sso-members-check-in.244769/

and there was your thread! :)

Also... I messed around a bit with the address... it turns out the name of the thread doesn't even matter, the only thing that matters is the number at the end. You can even just remove all the text but the number from the end and it still redirects to your thread. So entering "http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769" is all you need to do to get to your thread.

Try it... like for example... try going to: http://sevenstring.org/threads/it-doesnt-even-matter-what-the-text-is.244769

and it still redirects to: http://sevenstring.org/threads/texas-sso-members-check-in.244769/ and shows your thread of course! :)

If you try doing the opposite... leaving the original text of the redirected address and removing the number so it looks like "http://sevenstring.org/threads/texas-sso-members-check-in/" and navigating to that page it brings up the error page, so the number is all that really matters.

If there IS text in it, it HAS to be separated from the number with a dot, like: "text-blah-blah.244769" or "244769.text-blah-blah". What's funny is... if you do it the latter way... it actually keeps the text you put in and doesn't automatically replace it with the correct thread title, but yet it still redirects to the correct page... ONLY if there is no / at the end though! (so "244769.text-blah-blah/" would give an error page, but "244769.text-blah-blah" would go to the correct page). If you do the former method (the proper one really), then you can have "/" at the end or not it doesn't matter... and then the text will also be replaced with the thread title after it redirects to the correct page. If you have the number as the last thing you can have "/" at the end but if you do it the other way (the number at the beginning, then the dot, and then the text)... then you can't have the "/" at the end, complex I know! lol

That method is cool though because if you want to give people the address and you want the address to have the name of the thread look the way it appears (punctuations, spacings, capitalizations, etc.) on the thread page... then you can, you'd just copy the thread title and paste it after the "threads/244769." so it looks like "sevenstring.org/threads/244769.Texas SSO Members Check In" and it will take them to the correct page and it will leave the address the exact way you entered it, lol. (only problem is when you copy THAT address from the address bar and paste it somewhere else, the %20 gets inserted wherever there is a space, and all the other characters which parse that way too like "=" and "?", etc.).

But really the method with the number at the end is the correct one and most consistent one (just look at the address of this page and you'll see that is how it defaults). Plus... I didn't test it but if you wanted the page number in it, that comes after the "/" and with the number first method you can't end it with "/" if there is text at the end, so it won't work for bringing up pages other than the main first page (or whatever it redirects it to). So yeah, that's kinda for shites and giggles, I thought I'd let everyone know my findings on how the new forum software is working with the thread titles (as of right now anyway, lol).

The easiest way for sure though would be to just have only the number like this:

http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769

and also if there is no text at the end, you can do the "/" at the end if you want as well and it still works (it only doesn't if you add a "." and some text after it after the number). So like:

http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769/

Oh and I just tested adding the page number after "/" and I was right it doesn't work if there is text after the number. "244769.text-blah-blah/page-2" brought an error page... "244769/page-2" worked fine and so did "text-blah-blah.244769/page-2"

So in summary here are the different ways you can do it:

http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769
http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769/
http://sevenstring.org/threads/any-text-you-want-here.244769
http://sevenstring.org/threads/any-text-you-want-here.244769/
http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769.any-text-you-want-here

And if you want to be able to do pages then:

http://sevenstring.org/threads/244769/page-2
http://sevenstring.org/threads/any-text-you-want-here.244769/page-2

Okay so there you go, now at least people can maybe find their page if the know (or can find, via Google or something) the number part (assuming it wasn't deleted totally from the server).

That wasn't that hard to understand now was it? LOL :p

Are we still able to edit out posts? You used to be able to edit it for 24 or 48 hours or whatever it was but I made a post earlier today and wanted to fix a spelling mistake and I cant figure out how to edit posts anymore.
