Should I/do I have to wet-sand a satin finish?

I'm building a guitar, and I decided to go with a satin finish.

I've sprayed two light coats on already. I know the typical procedure with a gloss finish is to wet-sand it up to 1400 or 2000-grit sandpaper.

I kind of want to, just to get the experience, and because I want a faster neck. But does wet sanding accomplish anything for my project, or does it only apply to gloss finishes?

It will turn it into a gloss finish, which so will playing after a short time on the back of the neck and where you might rest your forearm of the picking hand. Depends on thickness of the finish of course, but it will gloss or sand through to slick finish either way. Personally not a fan of satin finishes unless it's done on open grain, and even then the same applies.
