Locran's guitar looks fantastic, love that inlay.

That Buckeye Burl top is the coolest one I've seen.

Chris, if you don't mind me asking (and you can PM me the answer if you want), but how the heck do you put the inlay in the headstocks? Are the names made of MOP? Metal? They look so delicate. But when you're done, they're so damn precise! Your answer would help out an aspiring builder (me)! Thanks!

That Buckeye is beyond stunning. Wow. What is the fretboard made of?

Also, very sorry for your loss.

I've sent a couple of emails lately too, wondering about the progress of the 'stock' run, with no replies.

I just sent another one yesterday.

Hi Chaps - I will get round to replying to you both, apologies for the delay. Just absolutely up against it at the moment, in fact I was planning on putting up a general announcement on SS and Facebook this coming weekend to let everyone on the list know where things are at.

As you can all hopefully see from the steady stream of guitars leaving the workshop, I'm working flat out to get back on schedule and I am gradually making up the time lost over the past 8 months of madness. Unfortunately as I'm essentially a "one-man" operation, (and moreso now that I no longer have an assistant), some eventualities have had a far more significant impact on my build schedule than I'd anticipated. It also means sometimes that an email or two slips through the net. That's nobodies fault but my own so again, apologies that I haven't gotten back to you guys sooner.

In order to try and make the time up I'm working 7 days a week wherever possible, which is tough with a new baby but of course necessary, and the upshot is that it doesn't leave me as much time (or I'm simply too knackered sometimes) to take photos or update social media as I used to. I'll obviously increase all that again once I'm further up to schedule but right now my priority as ever is making sure that not only are the guitars made as quickly as possible, but that they are 100% in terms of quality. - 4 month old babies aren't really conducive to sleep so the immediate effect of this is that I'm having to pace myself very carefully to make sure I'm not rushing or not concentrating on processes just because I'm tired.

Hopefully people will agree, that quality should be the bottom line, and that even with these delays, my waiting time remains far shorter than say, Daemoness. I have - for anyone who's checked my website, increased my build time now to take into account the events of the past few months, and the fact that my schedule was based on me doing the work with an assistant, whereas I'm now doing the same but on my own!

I really hope that helps by way of an explanation!

Absolutely fine mate. I have a 1 month old and 2 toddlers, run my own business too so I know the score.

Just checking, as complete radio silence can make anybody twitchy!

Reply when convenient. Cheers

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let people know about something we're doing here at Sabre this month.

If you've read the thread above you'll know that due to a customer having to pull out of a build at the last minute due to some unforeseen financial woes we have been left with an incredible Swamp Ash and Rosewood multiscale Ghost in stock.

We'd tentatively offered her up for sale, but thought it would be better to try and turn the whole thing into something wholly more positive!

To that end, we're putting her up as the prize in a raffle instead of selling her directly and £1000 of the proceeds will be donated by us to Medicines Sans Frontieres to help them with the amazing work they do, particularly at the moment with the ongoing situation in Gaza and the Ebola outbreak in Liberia.

Tickets are £30.00 each, and we're limiting the draw strictly to 100 entries.
Over a quarter sold out within a few hours of us announcing it on Facebook, so get in quickly for your chance to potentially win a guitar which would usually retail for more than £2800.00

There's no limit to how many tickets a single person can buy, other than how many tickets are left in the draw. The draw itself will run for no more than 4 weeks, and if all the tickets are sold before then, we will draw the winning ticket within 24 hours of the final space being taken. Tickets are allocated sequentially based on the order in which they are bought.

The draw will be made using the random number generator at Random.org.

If you'd like a ticket simply go here:

Instruments in Stock

Where you can find more details about the great work done by MSF and more details about the guitar and the draw!!

Best of luck to you all!!

A black Burst indeed!

August has (as ever - can you spot a trend) been a crazy month. Injury, birthdays, innovations, some great guitars and the first of hopefully many charity raffles.

So firstly - I got knocked out. In what in hindsight is a pretty hilarious turn of events. I was walking through my local builders merchants, about to grab some MDF for a jig when, as I got to the end of my aisle a guy turned the same corner carrying a ladder like in a Laurel and Hardy movie and lamped me square in the face! My prize for this encounter was a dislocated jaw and a broken pair of sunglasses!

We've been working for a while very closely with one particular customer on a one-of-a-kind Wraith that has really pushed the boundaries of what we can do here at Sabre.

Its not only our first H-S configuration wraith but is also Multiscale with a fully custom neck modeled on one of the customers' own vintage acoustics, wider bridge spacing, newly developed bridge grounding system, fully custom switching, custom compound fretboard radius, vintage profile fretwire, double laminate headstock and in a real first, a scratchbuilt fully compensated multiscale nut carved entirely from our new favourite frictionless high-performance material Ketron-PEEK HPV.

Here's a couple of pics of the nut in production:

And here's the guitar so far hanging next to our Ghost Raffle prize guitar!

Talking of the raffle, we're almost halfway there. The response has been fantastic and we've almost sold 50 of the 100 tickets so far after just 10 days which is awesome.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to get your hands on this awesome guitar for almost nothing and also do some real good in the process by contributing to a great cause.

You can get your tickets here: Instruments in Stock

Don't forget that each ticket bought is also redeemable (even if you don't win!) as a £30.00 Sabre Custom Shop Gift Voucher on any future custom guitars.

In other news, We finished up the stain, burst and lacquer on this tasty Wraith as well... She's a bit of a one-off too being pocketed for the now-discontinued (travesty) Wilkinson VS-401 Tremolo. We had to contact Gotoh Direct in Japan and get them to individually plate up one of their last remaining stock of these in Cosmo Black just so we could fit it to this guitar.

Raffle entered. (a couple times!)

Chris, can you give any progress updates on the current stock run?

No rush at all. Just curious.

Hey Chaps!

Only 12 spaces left on the raffle so don't miss out!!

The current stock run is going well, all the bodies have been cut and carved, finish sanded and the ones which require stain have been stained. They require final detailing and oil/wax. So far we've cut/carved just under half of the necks with the other half of the blanks in line to be carved over the next couple of weeks.
