Since these came out I've wanted to get one. I've always wanted an 8 string and Ibanez just feel natural to me. I sold my 2027x to pay for this, and I am glad I did. I am not mad on the EMGs, but they'll be staying for a while. It needs thicker strings (has a 70 for the F atm) and a setup, but I love it. Soon, she'll be getting a bit of a new look. ;)

Congratulations, Ross! :) That's a beautiful guitar, and let me add that those are some awesome pictures, too! Some of the best I've seen of this guitar.

I've yet to try one of these, but they're nothing short of awesome from what I hear!

Congrats Ross! and good idea for lime green finish, it works so well on Justin Lowe's RG2228.

Thanks guys!

Congrats Ross! A lime green refinish sounds good to me any ideas about what you'd swap the EMG's for yet?

I do like Bareknuckles, but I'm thinking of trying some Lundgren M8s :) They seem to really nail that tight but heavy 8 string tone. While these EMGs sound nice for cleans, they aren't tight enough for the lows. That said, I'm going to try the 18v mod first see if that makes a difference. I'll probably get that done when I have it refinished.

I say the BKPs are a good choice. But what are you going to do with the EMGs when you are done? If nothing else... I'll take 'em!:wavey: I'm having my cousin do a custom 8, and lacking the money for BKPs, the EMGs wouldn't be that bad an option as pick-ups.

I probably would sell em off once I change them out. I'd have no use for them. That said, it won't be for a while. I have some other gear I need to buy before then.
