Reddit serves as an aggregate and a place to tell on yourself for how much of an asshole you are.

Soooo accurate, lol. At least they occasionally have useful echo chambers where it's not constant Kardashian or political news interruptions. They're a lot more akin to BBS/forums than any of the others, but still attract a lot of edgelords and attention whores.

IG is kind of vestigial at this point, but originally they were the easy mode personal media social platform for smartphones. It's strange they have held out so well, but I think a big draw is that they simply still have the large user base.

All of them are trash. Nothing intelligent happens on any stereotypical social media platform, it's all lowest common denominator mind viruses and dopamine facilitation mechanisms. You're the product. That's why it is "free". Personally the cost is not worth it.

Legitimate question: How do folks normally hear about local shows? 'Cause without facebook, I would have no idea who is playing when or where. A giant chunk of all of our scene's marketing is facebook-based, and I assumed that was the same everywhere.

Mostly word of mouth, though I always wonder how much I'm missing out on. I'm pretty oldschool DIY, I do heavy flyering campaigns, mass texts, and even email along with word of mouth. I've been moderately successful promoting shows in this way. A friend is using Patreon with low-tier $1 options as a sort of crowdfunding/blog combo and promoted a couple very successful local shows using just that, flyers, and word of mouth. I'm still not convinced it's sustainable to promote an artistic presence without socials unfortunately, but it's a worthwhile experiment in the very least imo. I also live in a smaller town where many of the people coming to my shows know me personally and have a feeling I would struggle a lot more in a bigger population.

So last night I finally landed this super hot ginger punk dude after a long time of us talking and flirting and all this shit, right? So he finally comes over, we fuck for 4 hours straight, I'm pulling out all the tricks and putting in some work because ya know, you gotta make a good first impression. He's more than happy, can't wait to come back, mission accomplished and I'm feeling accomplished.....

And today I wake up with my back, hips, and knees all conspiring to kill me. Today is a day of drinking lots of water, long hot epsom salt baths, and popping Ibuprofen like PEZ candy.

Listen, kids...the way you feel mentally right now never goes away. You'll always feel young mentally, BUT, there comes a point where your body tells you the true story.

Jesus fucking Christ I'm too old for this shit. If this keeps going at this rate I'm gonna need a stunt double or something. I'm going back to bed. Somebody buy me one of those life alert necklaces or get me a home care nurse.

That's one of the things that pisses me off. I'm a redneck, I grew up wanting to ride bulls (rodeo, not the gay way), and then you fast forward 20 years, my body is every bit as fucked.

Here I am stuck doing odd jobs, averaging $40-50 an hour. Sounds great on paper, but it's not guaranteed hours like a normal job. I could make fat stacks one week, and then like $1-200 the next.

1st world problem #1 today: we really like my wife’s car but it’s been time to get a new one BUT we don’t really know about it because the kids wreck it. Some highlights this week were breaking the door handle off and spilling an entire bottle of pee because they just couldn’t hold it 4 more minutes.

1st world problem #2 today: apparently I pay for both Apple Music and Spotify Premium because I created playlists for my sons on Spotify and we don’t want to lose them.

Another fwp about kids - the little fuckers keep cockblocking all the time So basically in order to fuck, I gotta arrange so the kids are somewhere else overnight or take the wife to a hotel or something, otherwise they basically detect when we start cuddling and immediately go "mommy, daddy, I just shit my pants!" or something equally nice. Wife's rarely in the mood anyway and then you add the kids to the equation... That said, this weekend there was more action than the beginning of the year combined, so I'm happy for now.

I will say this for Reddit, it's mostly garbage but posting and reading posts on r/Leaves, the pot-quitting community on there, was instrumental for me in making it past the 2 week mark where all previous attempts have failed. I deleted my account after about a month but I legitimately don't think I'd have made it if it weren't for that sub. Coming up on 3 months clean.
