Nope, very different.
As others mentioned, Evo is tight, ice-picky at times - i feel it's closesst to EMG 81, but obviously more natural and better harmonics too.
GS on the other hand is thick & crunchy. It does have great harmonics too, but definitely not suited to things like metal, so i...
Spot on, also see this thread
+1
I wouldn't say it would be thin - especially in a mahogany guitar (see thread above) - but it will definitely be crunchy, not tight like an EMG.
as most here, i use neck for :
cleans - exclusively
leads, sweeps
there is however something else i've been using it for : dirty, mean & offending low gain rhythm tones.
I should clarify : i built a neck pickup, from 3 different pickups : telecaster bridge, strat single coil and a...
Because :
it is a lot more comfortable to play
you get fine tuners
the list goes on
The RGA8 also has that bridge, as does the TAM100, M8M and M80M, etc.
+1 for Sony.
Also, have at look at Marshall majors, I've been using them for months and they rock! Not transparent, they colour the sound, but i really dig them.
Don't have first-hand experience with pod or G Major, but i can tell you having just bought one, that the 11R is not amazing for effects only. Sure, the effects sound good, but choice is very limited.
From literature online, looks like G Major 2 would be the way to go. Any B-stock on thomann ?
Stunning work Knarbes, job well done !
Can you please let us know where you got those awesome looking volume pots ? And maybe the neck bolts too ?
Cheers!
It's not necessary as Rev2010 said below, but...
This.
I would add however that if you're on Windows, that mess gets piled onto by the OS itself. For mission-critical systems where performance is paramount (i work with very intensive CAD systems) I re-install windows every 6-9 months simply...
I'd just buy an actual rails pickup on ebay, one of the $10 cheap ones and replace the cover with the DiMarzio one.
If you want to go a step further and make something more interesting/useful, permanently wire that rail as a split humbucker. I did this to my neck single-coil sized rail and it...
Avoid green, cheapest and have issues with spinning down - can't be disabled.
WD Red Pro or Black.
HGST Deskstar
No, it's a price thing. Sweet spot right now is 2TB or 4 TB, don't bother with 1TB. Even 6TB are fine, I would not go for 8TB though, they're too new.
Avoid Seagate, go for WD or HGST, consult backblaze blog for actual data, not just anecdotal.
You get what you pay for with these.
RAID has no issues with mechanical drives, it's the crappy software implementations for home PCs that you should avoid. Get a RAID controller or steer clear...
I have one in my MacBookPro, it completely died after about 3 months, got a replacement under warranty and has been ok since. However, it does seem to stutter and have little breaks once in a while.
Have 2 Intel 520s in my other mac, not a single hiccup from day 1. And those were abused...

Commend the initiative, really good idea for a thread.
I immediately thought of turning this into an actual & searchable database, so i googled if there was anything similar out there.
Have you guys have come accross these, and how do they fare in comparison to our list here ...
