Just saw this on Facebook and came straight here. Terrible news.

Neil fell out of love with drumming and music in general in his later years but the music he made for us will last forever. A true legend.

I was not expecting this at all. Neil is probably the biggest influence on me as a drummer and Rush songs are the absolute best to drum along to. I knew this was gonna come at some point but I had no idea it would be this soon. There's a lot of drumming for me to do now in honor of Neil. Rest in peace.

Wow. This one hits hard. Neil was an absolute paragon (no pun intended) in his field.
I remember when I was just starting to play drums, trying my best to keep up with him and butchering song after song. The first time I made it cleanly through The Trees was probably the first time I felt like I could call myself an actual drummer. Definitely one of the best of all time.

He will be sorely missed for years to come.
