They went through the hassle of redesigning all their guitars to have the pickup closer to the bridge years ago

...then release this one like that lmao. I think I get what they were going for; trying to make use of the new open coil Moderns. But that came with the sacrifice of...that

As someone mentioned earlier, they could have just slanted it and used the next string pickup, e.g. use 7-string pickup for the 6-string, etc. For the 8-string, either skip it, or use the soapbar.

I think the headstock shape is quite nice, only that I don't think it works in reverse form. Has a good blend of modern and traditional features IMO. I'd definitely go over that headstock over the snapper one, for example (in the non-reverse config, of course) as it just looks a little more organic.

Looking at the fillets around the body, I don't think it's trying to look too modern.
