Artificial Brain, absolutely no doubt. I have always seen them as Gorguts, Defeated Sanity and Hate Eternal's bastard child... Dan from Revocation's new project. Dark, atmospheric, blasting, slamming death metal. The EP is incredible too, but this new song from the album coming out this year is insane.

Bell Witch, funeral doom two piece from Seattle featuring only bass, drums and vocals... done in a way you wouldn't necessarily expect.

Ash Borer, avant-garde US black metal.

On the less metal side, Silver Mt. Zion is incredible as well.

just some recent favorites, anyway.

Yessss. Darkest Hour gets a bad rap a lot of the time. I mean, the Kris Norris era stuff was rightly un....withable, and I'd probably put Deliver Us up there as one of, if not the best, metalcore records ever done. Even though their style has gotten sliiightly more nickelbackcore, they still write damn good songs, and you gotta say it's rare that someone like kris leaves and the band gets guitar players that might actually be BETTER.

i actually liked kris when he was with the band. but then after they picked up Lonestar and put out The Eternal Return.... holy mother of god that shit is hands down one of my all time favorite albums.

Soreption are an amazing band, both with groove and technicality. This has got to be some of the best death metal out there.

Jerry Cantrell is really under-rated as a guitarist imo. Band-wise, I'd say two of the most overlooked bands around are Amplifier and King's X.

Yup! Profound Lore is doing some great things this year. Judging by the announced releases this year, this one will probably be one of my absolute favorites.

Cilice. Yes, they do djent, but they also do some really interesting things with, bluesy-clean singing and their backing vocal tracks, kindof like how queen would do 100 different tracks of their vocals to get a choir :hbang:
Also, they've had members leave to play bass in Cynic and Blue Man Group, and to be the vocalist in Textures.

It's actually pretty tough to find non-demo/early versions of their songs on youtube, but spotify has their whole first album, and their supposed to have a new album out this year.

Fallujah. My only complaint about them is I find they use a bit too much compression on harvest wombs. Otherwise. I need more than just that and nomad. MORE DAMMIT!

Wretched

One of my favorite bands, yet it seems like nobody else knows about them.
