That would stifle discussion altogether, which only serves to reinforce the norm. Besides, once upon a time the notion of teaching that "slavery is bad" would have been taken as an extremist point-of-view for a teacher, and some state governments will be damned if they're not actively and publicly trying to introduce a message into their schools that slavery had positive aspects, which is... just fucking insane.Or …. We could just teach subject matter and leave wild political/gender ideology out of our classrooms.
