GBP is 1.77 over the same period, which is a bit surprising considering Brexit. But I guess we lost a lot of value against USD in that time.yeah, I was coming to say the same.
Admittedly, the value of the dollar depreciatng by maybe 45% in 23 years isn't great... but this has also been a period of abnormaly high inflation, and one the Fed has only partially gotten on top of, and has come after both a period of unprecetended monetary stimulus, followed by several massive supply shocks. The long term trend would be more like 40% devaluation over that time, or $1 in 2000 being about $1.57 today
