I use a Headrush FRFR108 and it not only sounds better than my EV ZLX-12P but is much louder. I've still not had a situation where I need to crank it in a band rehearsal context or even small gig.
Apparently the Axe-Fx III's front bars stick out more than the tolerance for the lid on my Gator case. I needed to downsize from an 8U case to a 4U anyway so looks like I'll be buying another type of case soon. Also need to grab an actual case for the FC-12 controller instead of using the case...
If it had continued to get proper support as well. That was the saddest thing about the GSP1101. The company itself didn't care about it. Just that lone dev who worked on it when he could.
Last one I bought wasn't as bad as the first 3 but still had a minor chipping issue. Really quite negligible but it was at a steal price.
Definitely like the neck profile on the MK-3 over the MK-2 which was too flat for how thin it was. Still very usable though.
I have a Valkyrie 265 (7-string) that I really like. The only complaints are that my frets weren't polished and the neck is thicker than I normally prefer but it's still playable. The GOC pickups sucked too although they were better in my Materia oddly enough. I think they're different pickups...
Yeah, my opinion on them was that the hardware was the weakest point. They're supposed to be switching hardware on some things (at least the headpieces) to fix some issues. I'd want a different bridge myself. I don't like the feel of the tuners.
At least with a blank board you can add stickers just where you want them. I've been getting away with this on my Jericho 7 that had no inlays and they haven't come off thanks to careful placement.
The stain differs quite a lot from piece to piece on that body. Seems poorly done to be honest. Which is unusual, since everything else I've seen Solar do looks great (even if not my personal preference).
I'm teetering back and forth between investing in better hardware for mine or just getting rid of it. Nothing is wrong with it build-wise but 1) I have too many guitars as is and 2) not sure multi-scale and/or headless is really my thing. But dang does it look good.
Some current planned design specs:
Mahogany body
Flamed maple top
Bolt-on Maple / Wenge Neck
Ebony Fretboard
24 SS Frets
Hipshot Hardware
Guitarmory Pickups
26.5” Scale
Optional bevel
• Pickup sets will be Guitarmory sets (as expected)
• No ETA, it's just when get everything together decide the manufacturing of them is good-to-go en masse
• US line, customers can pick the woods. Import, right now we're thinking maple + wenge stripes.
I don't have an ETA yet. Pickups included will be Guitarmory sets afaik. I'll follow up with more details after I talk to the rest of the team later this week.
These are just protos, the originals are pretty beefy as well so we'll see what comes out in the end. Too thick and it looks hockey-stick-like. I think it's going to depend on the woods used too.
Maybe we should throw one of our protos at a couch and make a post about how it should have never...
The standard shaped bodies work fine. It's the strandberg like ones that don't sit right or at all. My Ormsby is doable in my Gator 5-space rack. My GOC is not because it has the strandberg-esque style body.
I don't trust those headstock grabbing stands on headless models either since I had mine...
