NAD: because I'm so god damn excited that I can't even wait until its off 30 day hold

I have a custom high gain Jose Arrendondo mod, and add-on controls (bottom push-pull, mid girth) and custom feel control (sweep able pot instead of 5 way switch). Mercury Magnetics out put tranny. The gain boost is disconnected (one or two caps in the switching system are notorious for blowing...

NAD: because I'm so god damn excited that I can't even wait until its off 30 day hold

I love my AOR. I've had a ton of mod work done on it though. It went from pretty much perfect to -OMFG that's the sound in my head! Try Pres, Bass, and Treb on 6, Mids on 4 gain, boost, and volume as needed. I have other controls on mine, but that a good starting point.

Worth the risk buying broken amp?

It depends on what is causing the tube to blow. It could be a faulty screen resistor, which would,t cost much at all for a tech, or a the output tranny going which will run up to $600. If it's a must have amp that is worth more than $1000 used and you could have it for $500-1000 or less after a...

Recommend me a Les Paul.... please?

Trad pro 2, Traditional, Standard, and Sig T are all fine LPs. Avoid 2006-2010 IIRC as these are the chambered years. Mine is a 2005 Standard Limited ed, and is a great axe with an ebony board. Used LP's are usually a good value if you know how to spot a fake.

    Recommended Classical Repertoire for Legato?

Slur Exercises and Chromatic Octaves by Andres Segovia. Boring and tedious, but effective.

    Gundam thread

I'm 39 and love me some Gundam. I read about it in the 90's and got my first MS Encyclopedia and some bootleg VHS copies (remember VHS). I was thrilled with the advent of DVD and official US releases, although my Zeta and Double Zeta discs are bootlegs out of China from 2000-2001. I also have a...

    Opinion wanted PRS SE Santana

I'm not crazy about the inlays but want to get into a PRS for little $$$ for now. Is $275 obo a good price or should I hold out for a Bernie Marsden SE for a few hundred more new? It's the trans black strat like model with a hard tail, not the ones on MF now. TIA

18 yr old amp...time to replace stuff?

You're gonna need a cap job. They have a shelf life of 10 years and then a service life of 10-15.Those figures may not even be for new caps and not ones made to spec/quality from "the good ol' days."

Your experience with Voodoo amps for amp modding?

Don't sweat it. I get my stuff back in time and better than ever. I usually drive out to the shop though unless it's a major service (head blew up and needed a new OT and repairs).
