Steve has always seemed like the kind of player who loves it when this sort of thing happens, it's a wonderful thing to see :agreed:
I will have my chance to duel with Dart Vai-der one day as well, mark my words...
They way you think of modes is nice, but remember that there are countless scales and modes all with different feels and different moods. Try some of the modes of the harmonic and melodic minor scales to find new toys to play with, and to inspire different licks and sounds.
Remember also that...
If what a musician plays is their voice, I've always thought of phrasing as a musician's accent. I'll leave the nitty gritty details and theory expertise to people who can explain it better, but experiment with different ways to play a note, and different ways of accenting it. Try coming up with...
First time this BoO song has been played live...by an ex-band member
Bravo Jason. As much as I still love BoO, this goes to show how much they lost when they got rid of him.
P.S. I heard rumours that Jason and the band were on (relatively) amicable terms...any truth to that anyone?
For what it's worth, I think that music as a whole is raw emotion, in any form. I mean people can convery meaning from any type of music. Just because one piece bores one person to death, doesn't mean it does the same for everyone. As silly as it sounds I've always thought it is quite insulting...
Having a baby is one of the most kvlt things ever though...:ugh:
The amount of poop and puke and other nasty things, the sleep deprivation, brvtal right down to a tee.
As Anthony himself said - "it's about friendship"
Also, most power metal has something rather uplifting about it. Sabaton makes me feel like I could conquer the world, and Iced Earth makes me want to fight injustice, even if it feels like ideas are repeated in their musics.
Oh no, who would've thought this would happen? To be honest I wasn't looking to go this year but it must suck for anyone who was looking forward to it :(
Time for the nubcaek to come in with a few suggestions - das me.

EDIT: I am aware you're not looking for "non-stop shred fests", but you gotta admit these are GOOOOD shred fests ;)
For ROS fans it's disappointing when they go to see new material live after enjoying an album and find that because of one member's apathy they will go home without hearing or seeing anything they wanted to. Presumably ROS fans want to see the band members pull of the crazy technical stuff live...
