I use Ernie Ball Hybrids for drop B! I've only ever really used EB's, I've tried other brands but they feel perfect for me. I've also tried all the different gauges and packs and the Hybrids feel right for my fingers. In drop B they sound great too!
As someone said earlier, try different brands...
Hey guys!
I have some questions, so as always I turn to fellow guitar nerds/modification extraordinaires on SS!
(I already have the body, and it's unfinished)
Here goes (in no particular order)...
- The body is made of ash. How easy is this to paint on block colour?
- How do I create the...
Hey guys,
My current band is currently going through a bit of a revamp. We hated the last name and there was only two original remaining members, so it wasn't really the same band anyway, and the songs had been gigged and toured with for absolutely forever, and basically no-one was happy in...
Hey man, I'm about to retolex my 6505 (I have a thread about it on here), and here's another page I found if it's any help!:

Check out the 'Random pics of your rig' sticky, there's some awesome...
I had the exact problem with my 6505! It really started to grate on me, specially after we toured with a band who had dead silent 6505's, even on their dirty channel.
All I did was replace the power tubes with JJ's (I guess it wouldn't matter what tubes you go for, I will recommend JJ's...
Thanks a million guys :) I'll crack on this weekend while the band is a bit quiet.
I'm thinking white now with the front wooden panel removed so the tubes can be seen from the front, and the Peavey logo removed too, just leaving the 6505 logo.
Excited!
I have an EHX #1 Echo, had it for about nine months, works perfect! But I'm after a new one, so I'll +1 on the Carbon Copy cos that's what I'm getting next. :)
Thanks a lot guys :)
Thinking about the neck, I'm not too great at making necks so I might just buy one with a paddle headstock and cut out a design... Maybe an f-hole in the headstock too?! Haha. I don't know. But I'll probably buy a pre made neck.
Thanks for the help, tips and links everyone!
On saying that I think the Jam Man has a slot for a memory card... aaaaaand the one thing about the RC20XL that does my head in is that it doesn't have an option for live volume control (i.e an expression pedal), but if you have a volume pedal I guess that doesn't matter!
I use a Boss RC20XL and I absolutely LOVE it. I use it for samples, pre-recorded loops and live looping, it's a piece of piss to use too, just really shop around for them though cos I got a bit impatient, ordered it, and when it arrived I promptly found another one for £70 less haha. Ah well. Go...
Korg DTR1000! There's a DTR2000 but it's more expensive, the DTR1000 is great, I had mine for ages, sold it cos I missed having a pedal tuner. Definitely get the 1000 :)
Thanks for everyones help and comments! I think I'll go with the one f-hole instead of two, only have the bridge pickup installed (I hardly use the neck pup), one volume knob, ALL white hardware. Just need the wood and I'll get cracking this week!
Thanks again!
Thanks dude! I thought about the oak being heavy issue, I was wondering more about what it's like as a tonewood, what characteristics does it have? (On saying that, I suppose it's like any wood, depends how aged it is etc...)
In regards to tools, I have the tools, fret wire etc, the only...
Hey everyone!
Any help would be hugely appreciated on this, I've built guitars before but just stuck with mahogany because I like the tone, but I fancy doing something different with this one, a) just for something to do to kill some time until the next tour, and b) just to see what it'll...
