My guitars are full of fingerprints and stuff. Clean the dust when you change strings, and a little dry wipe over the fingerboard is all that's really necessary. Use the lemon oil to give the rosewood/ebony a deeper clean whenever you use it (every 6 months is more than enough).
Blame that on the ....ty wood in the LPJ. I used a LPJ and a Hetset. I imagine if I had used a heavier guitar with an EMG 81, it'd sound a lot closer.
PS
I don't have access to a EMG 81 anymore. I sold them off after I got a 58/58x, Hetset, and 57/66. And, yes, I do have guitars with...
Realistic flub included.

What do you guys think? I've been piecing it together for a while. I think I finally nailed it :shred:
I haven't heard a single good AJFA emulation for the Ultra. This one steps up the game for this unit.
Preset...
Title says it all. Also, for a full step drop. I'm also considering 10-62's.
EDIT: Strings. This is about strings.
EDIT #2 some context: I generally use 11-52 on a 6 string in standard tuning with 24.75" scale.

The covers on EMG's are not removable. Also, they are the same size as each other, so the plastic ones wouldn't fit over the metal ones even if you could get the covers off.
The dog ears are indeed larger. You'll probably have to file them down a little - all the metalworks EMG's I have had...
An advantage I can think of with maple fingerboards is that you won't have to worry about lemon oil at all. Dirty? Just wipe it off with a damp cloth. Plus it looks awesome on that white Eclipse, especially with the black inlays.
1) It doesn't sound like a P90. Think of it more as a fat PAF, with the EMG edge. This is definitely a humbucker.
2) It's noisy when you compare it to other EMG's. It's still virtually silent when compared to your average passive.
The X-variant of the 58 in the neck is wonderful. It's big...
What this is is the only EMG 58X in Brushed Gold, at least so far. I was told that the machines had to be reconfigured in order to make it. :agreed:
It's going in the neck of a LTD EC-1000CTM (the full thickness one), with a standard 58 in the bridge.
Also, be careful not to mix actives with passives, unless you've got special wiring. Also, mixing single coils with humbuckers can be tricky, if you want to keep the sound and feel they are both meant to have.
I've had 3 guitars with the aftermath, and still have 2 of them, and the secret with it is careful pre and post EQ. It's probably the tightest passive pickup I've used, and that allows you to dial in more low end and gain, which will give you that big mean tone you're looking for.
