Recording, Mixing and Drum Sequencing tutorials

Hey all, As a long time member of this forum I thought I'd take the opportunity to share my website / YouTube Channel that provides free tutorials on Recording, Mixing and Drum Sequencing as well as gear reviews. I primarily use Reaper as my DAW of choice, but most of the content should be...

Feedback on Heavy Metal Mix. Is it a good/bad mix and a good/cliche song?

For me, the biggest thing that stands out are the drum samples. I'm not sure what you've used or what software they are programmed in, but they sound identical on every hit / beat. I'd recommend looking at how to make sampled drums sound more 'human'. Have a look at these tutorials on some...

Recommendations for monitors in a home studio

Take a look at the Tannoy 802's (8" speakers). They are well priced and are a big improvement on the bass over my KRK RP6 G2's.

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

The old MIJ Jacksons are just awesome guitars. Rock solid when you know how to set them up and apart from the awful Jackson pickups, sound great too. :)

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

Cheers for the great info, it's much appreciated. I was aware of the issue with the pup wires on the SC's and that was kinda the reason I said it was a PITA, but I'm sure there's a solution that will do the guitar justice out there, just needs a bit of research and probably money thrown at it...

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

Pearl dude, the non Pro Professionals (if I'm correct) have white logos. Pearl were the higher end models.

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

If you get the opportunity to, do it. My first experience is definately favourable. I don't know how they compare to the USA models, but there is just something right about it IMO. :)

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

Cheers dude, I dunno why, but I don't really notice the scale difference when playing it. :) the blue Fusion Pro is now in transit from Slovenia, so I'm looking forward to having a nice pair of them on the wall ;)

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

@jonsick I know what you mean, the cavity doesn't have the recess for the small 'V' on most single coils so fitting them would be a PITA. So I'm on the lookout for some alternatives... not the biggest EMG fan.

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

Cheers everyone, it was an awesome find. I ended up importing it into the UK from a fella in Slovenia. Couldn't believe the condition when it arrived.. I was dumbfounded! BigBaldIan - Of course you can have first refusal if I ever sell, but I'd say not to hold your breath on it happening ;)...

NGD: Jackson MIJ 91 Professional Fusion Pro

Finally got around to taking some nice pics of my new (well, 24 yr old) Jackson Professional Fusion Pro and what can I say about this guitar? Wow! Just wow! The fretboard is like new with no fret wear, a few almost unnoticeable blemishes on the body and a tiny one on the back of the neck, but...

    Reaper

Reaper is an awesome piece of software and not bloated with commercial plug-ins that you may never use but had to pay for when purchasing the initial software... Plenty of features to satisfy most peoples needs. \m/

Help with EZdrummer 2 and Reaper

You may need to find the EZDrummer.dll file and copy that to your default VST folder. That worked for me with all the Toontrack plugins.

    Complete Recording noob advice

I'd have to recommend Reaper as many have above. It's cost is a major factor for most people starting out in recording, but it is honestly an amazing piece of software to work with. I've been using it over the last 2 years and while it only has minimal plugins, (but they are still very usable...
