    Cool run through. I liked the bottom end of the Dactivator but the BK to my ears had way more articulation.

    If the guitar is bright and you are trying to tame it, go higher DC and an A8. Preferebly plain enamel wire to keep the shrill down. Why not look into the boutique guys

    As a winder I can tell you look for something that offers a bit of diversity. 14.5k and 16.8k are great in the 6 string world because with Volume Roll off and a good touch you can do many genres. If you tap them they offer a great Single coil tone as well. I run 3 different sets in my guitars...

    Push pulls have little to no audible loss in tone. The volume roll off is where the issue comes in. Most meter at best 438-460 for a 500k pot. and 238 for a 250. Get some good 550k pots, and good caps. Yes you need to ground via the bridge. Also use buss wire for all your grounding. Braided can...

    Pickup issue

    Try running it straight to the jack. you may have killed the pot and it is stuck at zeeeeeero.

    Help with BKP's.

    Because the caps on those may be different in thickness. 1 5/8 at the center and the other 1/4 inch as well as the difference in the neck. Me i would look into 14k A8 for the LP style one and go higher DC maybe even a Ceramic neck and bridge pending the tone you want.

    I think he is looking for something that is clear and not all pickups are created equal in this. If you go with the JB make sure you do the A8 mod. I have done this mod for several customers rather than rewinding them. To me the D Activator makes you sound like everyone else. Tim over at BKP...

    So I was told I need new pots?

    With out the tone pot it me become a bit hotter and more open. Remember even when the tone is open you are still filtering a tad bit of tone to it.
