Did you try one of the EJ Strats for comparison? That's an interesting condradiction - the loose feeling YJM with 9s and scallops vs. the stiff-as-a-board strings of the EJ with 10s and 5 trem springs installed.
I have a cheap G&L Tribute strat that I'm thinking of scalloping from the 12th...
Yes, the Sweetwater sandblasted guitars are ash, and show that sandblasting is something that can be done on a production guitar.
Jim's actual guitar, like the one here - , was made of some wood that is too rare to use for a production guitar (I think it was some mahogany variant). Obviously...
I believe it's "sandblasted" to get that way. Sweetwater sells some Strats like that.
Edit - I guess a Tele now also https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TeleAPESBADB--fender-american-performer-sandblasted-telecaster-sweetwater-exclusive-daphne-blue
He used that Jazzmaster in the lessons...
I don't even bother with bidding anymore, I only deal with BIN listings (for buying and selling).
JSanta - didn't know that Reverb selling fees are less, I'll try them next time I decide to sell something, thanks for the info!
Eh, no biggie for me. I discovered Reverb about 18 months ago and since I bought a bunch of gear starting last August, I think I've bought one guitar from there. Everything else still from ebay, much better deals. Generally speaking, most stuff I've looked at on Reverb is overpriced (then I...
1986 Charvel Model 6. Was 15 and worked at Wendy's for $4/hr. Got the guitar in July '87 after 6 months of paying toward it (anyone remember layaway? lol) and quit that shitty job not long after getting it. Wow, 32 years that I've had 'Ole Red......
Nice! How is that JP160? I need at least 1 guitar with a Floyd (no pun intended -lol) and always preferred low-profile versions.
Are you using the original pickups?
I've mostly been a straight-into-the-amp kinda player, but about 2 months ago, I brought the few pedals I own out of the closet, and bought a few more to complete what I would want as a pedal setup to play around with and experiment a little. So now I have 8 pedals and the 1 spot 9-connector...
They were supposed to play both songs on Kimmel but only Unsainted was aired. But the Kimmel performance for All Out Life is on youtube now, I just watched both songs, and All Out Life came across much better live than Unsainted, IMO.
Edit: where I stand on Slipknot - Vol3 is their best album...
Well, after a week of not being able to get this song out of my head, I just bought it on iTunes this morning. And I'm not a fanboi, I only had Du Hast before this. But I think I'll get the "Made In Germany" best-of to explore their catalog.
^ And the only thing disgusting in that video is...
Of course, the classics like Zep - Over the Hills, Rush - The Trees, Floyd - Wish You Were Here, etc., but for a newer choice, I like the outro on this -
I think Vol 3 is their best album, it's actually the only one that I can listen to front-to-back (and I have all 5). But AHIG has a few great songs and some are chock full of killer riffs (Vendetta).
