    The JB seems like it was really designed for alder with a 250k pot in an HSS config. The mid bump can be a little overwhelming with a 500k pot or in darker woods. It's always best to experiment yourself and figure out what works for you.

    It's not the water you need to worry about but all the salt. I would keep them in cases and wipe them down before they go in. The salt spray can cause pitting on the hardware even on thick platings if you ignore it long enough. Not a huge issue, just try to make a habit of not keeping them...

    Seems like you would run into issues intonating thicker strings with that gotoh in the floyd route even with the screw swap. How do you like the height adjustable posts? Probably not a lot of use with a locking nut, but they've always interested me.
