So here's some of the sounds I've achieved from my beta version of the newest pedal from Airis Effects. I like it a whole heck of a lot, and think it will be the OD I use going forward. Having a built in and very powerful EQ is already super cool, but the pedal gain itself is what has really...
At this point pedals are so flexible that I encourage people to experiment with everything...
But these pedals generally go into the front end (input). Don't let it being call the Pre fool you. It's best considered as a clean boost.
Oh, think I mis read that haha. Not a fan of their art? Yeah, the Proto drive was the first thing of theirs that I bought, and is still my favorite art they have. Simple lightning and triangles lol
$75 bucks each for some very high quality, stripped down pedals. Most of us have a screamer already, but this is definitely a great way to try the Grind/33 style pedals on the cheap! I like both of these a lot.
Everything is set up correctly, and I dial it in throughout the video. Definitely don't think mine is any more defective that the others they sent out..you can get something close to usable out of it with work and a good power amp or clean channel. But yeah, overhyped isn't a bad description of it.
That's fair. I didn't mean to break any rules or anything, but like someone else said, the Apex sounds broken next to a Ceres, run in the same way. Many of us had high hopes for it, and many big channels have used them in ways that don't line up with the marketing that pretty much sell it as...
Provocative doesn't equal clickbait. It's pretty subjectively worse sounding than a bunch of other similarly priced options, and that's worth people seeing. But you're the boss, boss lol.
This isn't to say that it's the WORST sounding pedal I've ever heard/played...but it IS the most disappointing. You can get similar/better results in most every situation spending the money that it costs in a different direction.
I used the Ceres to really illustrate the point, but I could have...
Hey guys. Did a shootout of these two over on my channel this week. I can't imagine that there are any high gain pedals out there that can really touch either of these in terms of the totality of what they have to offer.
Guys! I'm working on both building my YouTube channel, and making space for some new stuff. Drop me a sub, and check out the Facebook group Heavy Metal Amps and Pedals for a chance to win! Also, the Kraken remains heads and shoulders above the other preamp pedals out there, in my opinion haha.
Sounds like you like the brighter sounding ones in this case haha. I think the Fluences sound best to me overall personally. I like what the laces do in general too. All good, but I still haven't quite figured out the reason behind the m8 hype
Did a comparison of my four 8 string guitars a while back. Thought it was kinda cool since I have a divisive passive pickup brand (Lace), a lauded pickup brand (Lundgren), a "divisive" active brand (EMG lol) and the lauded fluence moderns.
IMO: None suck, but some do stand out as being really...
Wasn't sure where to put this, but lets focus on the guitars I guess haha. Spec'd out the Blackat to be a fairly decent comparison to the Xen, and it worked out super well.
Review for the Blackat is coming, but AMA!
Still loving mine..it is comparable to tones I'm getting from my satan. My next video will be looking at the kraken vs the Apex preamp and the Seymour Duncan Palladium if you wanna wait for that haha.
