    Periphery Megathread: Everything Periphery

Has anyone else noticed that Hell Below is basically a Strapping Young Lad song? Not that that is in any way a bad thing.

    NGD: Boden 7

    It looks immaculate! Lucky you!

    Show me something new....

I'm not sure how well known these guys are. If you haven't heard them then you should rectify that. One of the best math/grind bands out there. I honestly can't think of anything else that sounds like their latest album. This Will Do the Job | Car Bomb

    Serious tone issues

Miller and Jamerson are totally different tones haha. For Marcus I'd probably go for a pretty heavy mid-scoop, boost treble and bass, and solo the bridge pickup. Jamerson is a pretty tough tone to nail, at least, with your current gear. A big part of his sound is flatwound strings and the p-bass...

Strandberg / Astral EXR Systems / Announcement!

"Many of you may not know that I have maintained a day job throughout building up Strandberg Guitars, and have had to rely on licensing to grow, but I have come to realize that the buck has to stop with me (as correctly stated in earlier comments)." Does this mean there will be no more...

What music do kids like today?

To be honest it is probably abnormally good around here, but it started with a couple people spreading good music around. If the first thing people hear when you introduce them to "good music" is Meshuggah, DEP, or Coltrane then of course they won't get into it, it's like throwing people into...

What music do kids like today?

I'm 17, technically on my last year of being a kid. Honestly I think that some kids in this thread are a little too proud of themselves. Most people I know, when exposed to good music (with an open mind), end up getting into good music. All my friends are obsessed with Guthrie Govan these...

    NGD: Custom Modern Suhr Content

I thought it was fretless for a second, and was very excited. Still a fantastic NGD though.

    NBD! Fender Precision Bass

Looks like an older Squire; those are solid basses. Try just going direct and using an amp simulator meant for bass, like MarkStudio.

    Help me understand bass pickups

What kind of music are you going to be playing? I just sat down to record some stuff.

    Help me understand bass pickups

Soapbars are just housings, you could have almost anything underneath a soapbar housing. I'm going to assume what you have a split design based off of a single-coil. You can get almost anything in a soapbar housing though; Dingwall offers P-pups in some of their soapbars. Like guitar pickups...

NBD - It always ends up being....

If I had to choose between the two, I'd probably take this over a prestige. These appeal more to me aesthetically, have comparable build quality, identical hardware, and much better electronics (nordy pickups are killer). Kudos on a great choice, haha!

    Ibanez RG852LW Prestige 8-String

Awesome, you'll probably be the first one on the forum to post an NGD for one.

Haha, I'm pretty sure Blackmachine stole from Parker.

What's the difference between the Dean URC8XCBK and the RC8X?

You're paying for the ability to easily explain what you bought to your friends.

Getting a guitar tone out of a bass

Interesting stuff guys. It seems to definitely lie in the mids. I love bass, I'd have to, I play it. I'm interested in emulating a guitar tone for writing purposes.

    Extended Range Racism

I'm a bassist There's only so low a man can go. If any of you people tune below E1 I may be forced to take....drastic measures.
