Ok, this feels a whole lot less like “unplanned”, and whole lot more like “fuck it, let’s make “gonzo porn”.
not criticizing in the least, just saying…..
So…I also had the opportunity to briefly put my hands on a Solar 7 string “explorer” style guitar….neck profile was surprisingly comfy, and overall “feel” for the instrument was superior to the Agile
or Chapman “explorer” types I’ve messed around with…..
seems like you’re overthinking…..if you want a full on “Strat body” style 7…..can you snare one for cheaper?
js22/32-7 or Ibby 7320/21 doesn’t count because the body has those sharp “super-strat” contours……
discontinued for close to 20 years, and current “mid level” Squiers push $500 new without offering a 7? Nah….$350-ish is probably on the low side of “right”.
inflation SUCKS.
Don’t really feel like I can actually cast a vote, because of the fact string diameter plays a huge roll…..
for B, I’m VERY comfortable with a .062 on a 24.75 scale. If it’s worked for Amon Amarth for 20+ years, who am I to argue?
beyond B though? I very rapidly want longer scales and...
Your current guitar is more than capable of handling those tunings with very “standard” string gauges. Bands have been tuning to B standard using a .62 on 24.75” scales for literal DECADES.
Tuning is ALWAYS a compromise, unless you are going to buy a “true temperament” instrument for each and...
They’re not in almost ANY of the major chains in the US. best bet is either Reverb, or stumbling on a local shop that carries them, as was the case for me when I bought my KX500MS a few years back. GREAT LOOKING..... But it’s definitely a “bang for the buck” thing rather than “prestige...
THIS.
Dave and Krist have both told the story about practicing “Smells like Teen Spirit” hundreds of times in a row to get it nailed down to PERFECTION. Nirvana had a sort of “aloof” presentation, but Kurt was a perfectionist at heart that worked on things until every last detail and nuance...
7 string headless 24.75-26.5” multiscale Warlock....at a “pre current round of guitar price inflation” price point.
I mean, this is TOTALLY the “SSO Pipe Dream” thread, right?
I think availability is probably better than some folks are seeing, because my local GC (Mishawaka/South Bend IN) has a 6 string shredzilla extreme in their top row of guitar hangers.....and I don’t think this store is a high volume store that automatically gets all the new stuff......
I don’t even know what happened in the last 5-6 posts.....
so, returning to the “real” about all this....I’m actually generally curious about the “what if’s” about people (Jon Schaffer among them) being in what would generally be considered “publicly accessible areas” of the Capitol Building...
two thoughts watching this:
1. Outside of Jeff just not wanting a sig Kelly, there are ZERO legit reasons for this not to happen..
2. DAMN, do I miss Warrel’s vocals combined with Jeff’s playing.
TRUTH.
I’ve owned multiple guitars that are supposedly identical other than finish color, and one of them will just “speak to me” where the other “identical” guitars just felt dead and lifeless in comparison.
Even with all the production automation modern construction has via CNC and...
Yup.
the GSR has good bones, I can’t call it “bad”.....but it’s definitely “not for me”. I HAD a 405QM, the slightly older version where the pickups didn’t have pole pieces, and this newer feels just like I remember.
The neck on this is just a night and day difference compared to the GSR206SM I grabbed last year to explore 6 strings. The GSR is TOO thin/flat, the SR 5 string profile is damn near PERFECT.
